Richard BirtSenior Pastor
Richard came into the role of Senior Pastor at Morrinsville Baptist in January 2019.
Richard and Julie have been married over 25 years and have three adult sons: James, Matthew and William plus a new daughter in law, Alexandra. Richard worked as a relationship manager for AMP Capital Investors, based in Wellington for many years. Julie was a home executive, while their boys were young, before becoming increasingly more involved in various ministries and jobs as the boys became more independent.
Julie and Richard began to take their faith in Jesus Christ seriously in their early thirties and they felt called to move into various church-based ministries. They have worked overseas; in the Middle East, and most recently in Europe where Richard completed a degree in applied theology.
Richard recollects their joy in discovering that the Gospel of Jesus Christ not only offers forgiveness of sins and a restored relationship with God, but the incredible miracle of a new heart and new desires. They passionately want to see these Gospel truths transform peoples’ lives today in the community of Morrinsville and beyond.
